'La Haine' was released in cinemas in France and Belgium on this day in 1995. Mathieu Kassovitz's blistering second feature follows three young friends from different ethnic backgrounds over 24 hours in the aftermath of rioting in their deprived estate on the outskirts of Paris. The film opened to widespread acclaim with Kassovitz winning the Best Director Award at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival.
