Clint Eastwood's revisionist western set during and after the American Civil War and adapted from the Forrest Carter novel 'The Rebel Outlaw: Josey Wales' tells the story of farmer-turned-soldier Josey Wales seeking vengeance for the death of his family and his ascendency to becoming a feared gunfighter.

The movie was a financial and critical hit and is widely regarded as not only one of Eastwood's career highlights but also as one of the best westerns ever made.
