Clint Eastwood's classic revisionist western 'Unforgiven' opened in theaters across North America on this day in 1992. Eastwood directed and starred as aging gunfighter and killer William Munny, now a repentant widower trying to raise two children on a farm that is failing.

Munny agrees to take on one last job to provide for his children after a sizable bounty is offered by a group of prostitutes when one of them is left disfigured by a client.

'Unforgiven' was a hit with critics and audiences alike, grossing over $159 million on a budget of $14.4 million. The film won four Academy Awards: Best Picture and Best Director for Eastwood, Best Supporting Actor for Gene Hackman and Best Film Editing for Joel Cox.
